Boney Kapoor immerses Sridevi’s ashes in Haridwar

Sridevi’s husband Boney Kapoor immersed her ashes in Haridwar on Thursday. He was accompanied by his brother Anil Kapoor, Manish Malhotra and Amar Singh for the ritual.

ANI tweeted as “Uttarakhand: ‘Asthi Visarjan’ of #Sridevi was performed by Boney Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Manish Malhotra, Amar Singh and other family members at the VIP ghat in Haridwar.”

Sridevi’s ashes  immersed in holy island sea in Rameshwaram last week by  Boney Kapoor.

Sridevi’s husband Boney Kapoor performed the last rites at the ceremony. Her daughters, Jahnvi and Khushi, were by his side, said sources close to the family.

Maharashtra government accorded full state honours for the funeral of legendary actress Sridevi, which included draping her body in the national tricolour, elaborate arrangements by the Mumbai Police and a gun salute before the cremation.

The final journey started at around 2 pm wherein Sridevi’s body was carried to the Vile Parle Seva Samaj Crematorium and Hindu Cemetery at SV Road in Vile Parle West in the presence of huge crowds of mourners including celebrities, politicians, business professionals and thousands of fans and well-wishers. The fans had started to line up early in the morning even though the gates had opened around 10 am.  They all want to pay tribute and catch a final glimpse of their favourite star.

Veteran actor Sridevi died in her hotel room in the Jumeirah Emirates Towers,  Dubai on Saturday night at around 11 p.m. She was 54. She had married film producer Boney Kapoor with whom she had two daughters.

The government of Dubai on Monday confirmed that Sridevi died after accidentally drowning in the bathtub of her hotel room following loss of consciousness. A forensic examination indicated that traces of alcohol were found in her blood.

Sridevi worked across the language of Indian cinema in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada; her most memorable roles came in a rash of Tamil hits while she was still in her teens
