Is Bollywood Film makers business affected by IPL?

The Indian Premiere League (IPL) that starts from last saturday and continue till May end. The period is clearly not seen as a good period for films to release. In a nation which is primarily obsessed with cinema and cricket, it is not a good idea to mix the two. That would lead to losing on your audience.

April to June is usually a very lucrative period, as the summer vacations are on at the time. Producers have already postponed releases due to exams and the just concluded with IPL.

According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh. “#Blackmail witnessed 37.01% GROWTH on Day 2… Biz was affected, to an extent, by the commencement of #IPL2018… Will have to score on Sun… Biz has to multiply for a respectable weekend total… Fri 2.81 cr, Sat 3.85 cr. Total: ₹ 6.66 cr. India biz,” he wrote on Twitter.

It is not much in favour of releasing new films during the IPL season. The IPL matches usually happen between 8 to 11 pm, so it can affect a film if it is an important match. But still Baahi 2 is running fine in boxoffice and collected more than 100 crores. Let see in coming days movie releases.
